Westlake University is preceded by the Westlake Institute for Advanced Study, which was founded by a group of scientists who were born and raised in China but received postgraduate education in developed countries. Westlake University has three schools: School of Life Sciences (covering all branches of modern experimental biology and computational biology and all branches of medical sciences), School of Natural Sciences (covering mathematics, physics, chemistry, and emerging fields of sciences), and School of Engineering (covering all branches of engineering).

Position: Administrative Specialist

Department: Office of the President

Category: Professional Administrative

Full-time / Part-time: Full-time

Location: Hangzhou, China

Job Responsibilities:

1.Assist in organizing and managing a diverse range of relevant events and meetings.

2.Respond to both internal and external inquiries as appropriate.

3.Provide administrative support to the office, and maintain administrative and project filing systems (electronic and paper).

4.Perform other duties and work as assigned.

Qualifications:

1.Strong familiarity with Westlake University, and ability to articulate our mission, excellence, and goals.

2.Master’s Degree and above, previous experience in administrative work in higher education field preferred.

3.Native in English, strong communication and interpersonal skills; fluency in Chinese is a plus.

4.Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.

5.Strong attention to detail.

 

 

Position: Academic Services and Student Affairs Specialist

Department: Office of Academic Services and Student Affairs
Category: Professional Administrative
Full-time / Part-time: Full-time

Location: Hangzhou, China

Job Responsibilities:

1.Provide advice to students on a range of issues, including, but not limited to, academic progress, academic program policies.

2.Assist in planning and implementing the administrative tasks of the daily academic programs, summer programs and other special programs as assigned.

3.Collaborate with other offices to help resolve program issues and concerns, interpret policies.

4.Liaise with and coordinate other works within the Academic Services and Student Affairs office as needed.

Qualifications:

1.Strong familiarity with Westlake University, and ability to articulate our mission, excellence, and goals.

2.Master’s Degree and above, previous experience in administrative work in higher education field preferred.

3.Experience in studying and working in a multicultural environment is highly preferred.

4.Native in English, strong communication and interpersonal skills; fluency in Chinese is a plus.

5.Detail-oriented, ‘can-do’ attitude and able to work effectively within the team.

6.Relevant computer systems/technology experience.



Position: Human Resources Specialist

Department: Office of Human Resources  
Category: Professional Administrative
Full-time / Part-time: Full-time

Location: Hangzhou, China

Job Responsibilities:

1.Assist in the communication with Faculty and Administrative staffs in regard of HR related issues.

2.Support in employee engagement activities and assist in internal communications with different offices and Faculty.

3.Contribute to the evaluation and design of process improvement initiatives in the HR office.

4.Perform administrative tasks within HR.

5.Work on other ad hoc works assigned.

Qualifications:

1.Strong familiarity with Westlake University, and ability to articulate our mission, excellence, and goals.

2.Master’s Degree and above, previous experience in HR administration is preferred.

3.Knowledge of local labor laws.

4.Experience in studying and working in a multicultural environment.

5.Native in English, strong communication and interpersonal skills; fluency in Chinese is a plus.

6.Service-oriented, problem-solving mindset.

 

 

 

Position: International Affairs Specialist

Department: Office of International Affairs
Category: Professional Administrative
Full-time / Part-time: Full-time

Location: Hangzhou, China

Job Responsibilities:

1.Assist in developing and maintaining the long-term relationship with relevant oversea institutions.

2.Coordinate the related work and provide support to exit and entry administrative work. 

3.Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1.Strong familiarity with Westlake University, and ability to articulate our mission, excellence, and goals.

2.Master’s Degree and above, previous experience in international affairs in academic institutions is preferred.

3.Experience in studying and working in a multicultural environment is highly preferred. 

4.Broad understanding of academic and international programs, familiar with related policies in the field.

5.Ability to communicate and interact with relevant stakeholders professionally to solve complex issues.  

6.Native in English, strong communication and interpersonal skills; fluency in Chinese is a plus.
